What Causes Water Seepage?

While heavy rainfall is one of the most common causes of water seepage, improper downspouts or clogged gutters and window wells that allow water to accumulate around your home’s foundation can also cause seepage. In addition, improper grading around your home can also be a cause. Your property may be more susceptible to water seepage if:

✅  Your foundation was built on improperly compacted fill soils

✅  Your foundation has poor drainage around its exterior

✅  Your home is in an area with extreme seasonal changes

✅  Your home experienced a plumbing leak beneath the foundation

✅  Tree roots are growing too close to your home

✅  An act of nature (earthquake, flood or drought) compromised the foundation structure

✅  Your homes is positioned above underground rivers and streams, which is very common on Long Island

What are the indications that Waterproofing is needed?
